 一、blue moon

blue是蓝色的，moon是月亮，blue moon可不是“蓝色的月亮”！

blue moon 俗称“蓝月亮（不是蓝色的月亮）”，指满月：一个月内的第二次满月（月亮形成完整圆盘的时间），大约每两年半才出现一次。

从上面的信息得知，大约每两年半才能出现一次，说明其间隔时间长，出现的概率极小。

blue moon 常被用于词组once in a blue moon中。

once in a blue moon 指很少，几乎从不；它可被翻译为“罕见”，“极偶然地”，或“千载难逢”。

over是上面的，moon是月亮，over the moon可不是“在月亮的上面”！

over the moon 指非常高兴，非常快活，欣喜若狂。

 三、shoot for the moon

shoot是射击，shoot for the moon可不是“为月亮射击”！

shoot for the moon 指试图实现非常困难的事，力争最好，争取达到最高目标，志存高远。

也可以说reach for the moon。

 四、ask for the moon

ask for 是请求，ask for the moon的字面意思是祈求月亮。

试想一下，你想摘个月亮下来，你觉得可能吗？

ask for the moon 表示要求过高，想要得到非常困难或不可能得到的东西。

ask for the moon 可被翻译为“痴人说梦”，“异想天开”等。

 五、promise (somebody) the moon

promise是答应，承诺的意思。

promise (somebody) the moon的字面意思是“答应或承诺（某人）月亮”。

promise (somebody) the moon 的意思是：向（某人）作出无法兑现的承诺，可被翻译为“向...夸下海口”。

它的变体是 ：promise (somebody) the earth。
